Wax Tablets are a writing tool that has been used since Roman times. The stylus (whether metal, bone, or wood) was used to scratch or score your thoughts or sketches into the thin coating of pigmented beeswax. The flat back end was then used to smooth the wax whenever you desired to erase your work. Historically they were used for everything from sketch pads for designing artwork to as shipping invoices and accounting logs. Today they make a great substitute for post-it notes, grocery lists, sketch pads, and for the historic reenactors and enthusiasts among us.
We produce historically made wax tablets. They are made using pigmented beeswax that come with your choice of stylus (wood or bronze).
We make several types of stock wax tablets; 3.5x4.5 inch tablets with either red or blue wax, 2.5x3 tablets with the same color choice, and an ever increasing number of 4x6 inch tablets made from a range of exotic woods with wax colors including red, yellow, blue, green, black, and purple. They are all available on our Etsy Page, and we encourage you to take a look.
We also make custom wax tablets. If you would like to commission a custom Wax Tablet Contact Us.
